Extractions
Dental extractions are done for different reasons. Sometimes they are necessary because of disease or trauma. However, extractions are also performed to relieve crowding and may be a step in an orthodontic treatment plan.
In instances of disease or trauma, we make every effort to save the tooth. However, if an extraction is necessary, we will discuss with you the level of difficulty involved and whether it is a procedure we feel should be handled in our office or by referral to an oral surgeon.
For a video and instructions on what to expect during a dental extraction and how to care for it during recovery, see Extractions (provided by the American Dental Association).
